In-House Training or Open Seminar: What Suits Your Team?

Both formats have their place. After hundreds of training days in both worlds, we sum up when each format pays off and what to look at when you make the decision.

When in-house training pays off

  • From roughly 4 participants onwards, in-house is almost always cheaper per head
  • Content is adapted to your tech stack and to a real project from your daily work
  • Internal discussions are possible, including discussions about confidential code
  • No travel for the team, and the date follows your calendar

When an open seminar is the better fit

  • Individual participants or very small groups
  • Exchange with participants from other companies is wanted
  • A fixed date helps to actually get the training into the schedule
  • Standard topics with no need for customization

Our recommendation

For teams of four people or more we almost always recommend in-house training with one concrete project as the common thread: the transfer into daily work is measurably better when people practise on their own code. For individuals we are happy to advise on a suitable open format. We offer both in German and English, online or on site.

Frequently asked questions

How many participants does it take for in-house training to pay off?

As a rule of thumb, from four participants onwards. At that point the price per head is usually below that of open seminars, while the content is tailored to you at the same time.

Can in-house trainings take place online?

Yes. All our trainings are available online, on site at your location or hybrid. The exercises work in every format.
